∂∂~Best Albums of 2011

For the most part this was not a thrilling year in music, from my perspective most of what was being released seemed watered down, almost forced, the necessity to release something new for the industries sake. Bands such as Gang Gang Dance and Kurt Vile, who have already proven their worth to the contemporary music scene, each release incredibly mature and inventive LPs. There were also several exciting brand new acts, my pals Widowspeaks’ first (self-titled) LP has been more than enthusiastically received by the public. Youth Lagoon, Kendrick Lamar and Asap Rocky all personifying what a talented, ambitious twenty-something can accomplish.

Metronomy is a force to surrender too.

The Strokes have nestled themselves into that loyal part of me, that has no choice but to love and embrace most anything they do. 

Toro Y Moi was released very early in the year and I almost forgot about this playful companion of an album. Perfect for any one on one time with your digital music device.

John Maus, Steals my heart, breaks it and then walks away forgetting anything ever happened, leaving me sad and alone, in pure romance.
